I was reading Carole Matthews' (she's an author) newsletter last night and found my name in it as a winner of a lovely Virgin Vie necklace. I had deleted her email asking for my address by mistake, but luckily it was still in mytrash folder so I was able to reply(phew).
This morning, a Beano interactive dvd plopped on the doorstep for my dd from CITV:D
I'm not sure what to do with it yet though as it's so close to Christmas.
option 1) we could keep it, as between us, OH and I have 5 kids. They would probably have fun with it, but it none of them is really that interested in the Beano.
option 2)
DD has a friend in her class who is autistic and carries a copy of the Beano annual round with him everywhere. I think he would love it, but I wouldn't normally buy him a present for Christmas.
What would you do?

Congrats on your wins! Let's hope yours come in threes too.
It's sweet of you to think of think of passing on your prize. Do you speak to his mum? Would it definitely be suitable? They'd probably be really chuffed and you'd have the feel-good factor but if any of yours like Beano I would keep it I think. Knowing my lot, as soon as I'd say 'well you're not interested in Beano' they would all claim to number 1 fans.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0 -
Well done AnnieH
Lucky or what.
I would keep the Beano DVD over Christmas then pass it on in the New Year. That way your family enjoys it then the autistic child can play with it without the parents feeling obliged to get you something in return.
Well done anyway0 -
It is lovely of you to think of him but I know I always feel guilty if someone just gives me something out of the blue. If you emphasize that you won it and that you thought of him cause he likes the Beano and your kids are into other things that will help and then it will be seen as less of a "christmas present" and she won't feel as much that she owes you something back.0

Thanks guys. In the end I decided to ring his mum and offer it to her to give him rather than give it from us. I said I'd won it and it hadn't cost me anything (she offered me a tenner for it!) so if she wanted it, then she could have it, no strings. I said don't worry about my dd, I'll win something else ina couple of weeks (hopefully:)) that she'll like.
That should keep businessstudent happy anyway0 -
Well done on the wins!
That was a lovely thing to do as well. I am sure businessstudent will be chuffed :rotfl:

Thanks fluffynit.:)

Well done on the wins. I would give it to the class teacher, as she could use it a prize for a christmas quiz. If the questions were on Beano, she would have a clear expert and probable winner. That way you are not tied into Christmas gifts for this child for next year. I am always looking for small prizes at this time of the year for fun events for my class.0
