A work friend recently received a cheque for £7K followed by further check for another £8K due to the rules changing regarding child benefit in (we think 1975) previously you did not get child benefit for the first born, then we think that this was backdated to 1972, has anyone heard of this? How do we cliaim?

Child benefit is to help towards the cost of bringing up a child - surely the said child is now grown up and you no longer need help with the costs of bringing him up? My brother was born before CB became payable for all children, but as he is almost fifty, I don't think my mum will be claiming...0

Well, if anyone finds out how to do it, let me know will you? I'll back claim for my daughter - she's 41 :rotfl: Every little helps;)0
