Mileage alowance claims

I need some help on this, our boss is really clamping down on anything he can. Let me start by saying what I do. I am a Social Care Worker. Not self employed. The company pay me 20p a mile. We don't clain to our first job nor from our last job back home at the end of the day. BUT? I work for 4 hours in the morning, I go home until my dinner time run starts, so then I am back out until another 3 hours, then I go back home, then I do the tea run, and then the night run, I think you get the picture?
But each time I finish my short stints, he his not paying me mileage for when I go out to my next job! and back in from my last job on that run! surely this is wrong? Its not my first run neither is my last run? But he his not paying us.. It is still the working day irrispective how many times I am in and out of my house! I thought you could not claim from your first job ! from your last job back home ! last job being the end of the day??? I don't ever go back to the office at all where I am based from! He says " we are based from home "
Could someone clarify this please, because trying get through to the tax office is a joke.! and I think I am loosing money here. Not only that, he wants us to drop the point of a mile each time. so if I do 6.8 to my job he says its 6. Thats all he he his going to pay...
Thanks in advance....

What does your contract of employment say?
You may not be able to get anything from your employer, but you should be able to get tax relief from HMRC for all journeys if you are using your own car.
If you are paid 20p per mile, you should be able to get back 20% of 25p (ie another 5p per mile) from the tax man.
For the miles you are paid nothing, you should get back 20% of 45p, ie 9p per mile.
Applies to first 10,000 miles per year. Lower rate applies after that.
Would that help?
Also, how long have you worked there?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thank you for replying, regarding the Contract not sure where that is at the momment. I have been with the company three years now. They pay us like you say 20p a mile and I do claim the other back from the powers be and they offset my tax against that.
We have been took over with a new company, they took over in october and these are the guidlines he his setting down. I am sure its wrong and not legal what he his doing. We was paid the milage by the last employer that owned the company. He his moaning it costs him £15000 a month in fuel mileage! ok it looks like a cash flow problem. But he his trying to screw us to the floor with our cars our fuel. It looks like we are subsidising his company at our expence!! Its the first call to the last call that concerns me. he his classing first and last four times a bloody day...
I hope this helps you a bit more in my explanation..
