This is known commonly in the business as : The spring bounce effect.

Nothing to worry about as prices will resume shortly icon9.gif

Is there anyone here who thinks house prices aren't going to fall in the coming months?

Spring is usually the time that house prices rise so April's fall must be a worry for those hoping for even more ridiculous prices.

Whether or not the extra Bank Holidays had any impact I don't know.

The down side for FTBers is that once the Condems slash and burn policy bites, prices may be a lot lower but they will be even more unaffordable unless they are cash buyers. Mortgages will remian rarer than hen's teeth for some years to come.

And that's GOOD news for prudent FTBs! :T Save hard, and in the meantime prices will fall so far that you will be ABLE to buy for cash (or as near as possible) if you work hard at it. :D

Agree re April - a very odd month for prices to fall, and by so much! Kirstie Allslop (no, the extra 'l' is not a typo) must be beside herself with rage. I can just imagine her stamping her well-bred foot in frustration. :rotfl:

Fail to see the connection between economic policy and affordability for FTB's.
