wedding invitation cards

Options
me and my fiancee are having a bit of a crisis finding suitable wedding invites - most of the personalised ones from the likes of Debenhams and John Lewis i think are a bit of a rip-off - work out over 4 pounds each, with 100 guests that's going to cost us in excess of 400 quid! hand-made ones altho nice are also very expensive and hard to justify really. We haven't got the time to make our own - wedding is in September this year and we both work full time. A good compromise would be the kits e.g. packs of 10 where you print your own insert (i'm computer savvy so this isn't an issue) but which have a hand-made classy look to them. Saw one nice pack in M&S only to find out they've been discontinued! If anyones seen invites that they'd think would match what we're looking for would be much appreciated!

Do you want the guests name printed on them? Or are you happy with them just personalised with your details on them - and then handwrite in the names?

I got my invitations in Home Bargains. They were old M and S stock and were 79p for 10. Obviously they were not personalised but I just got a nice pen and hand wrote them and I think they are lovely, they are thick white card with pearl glitter round the edges and a pearl glitter cake in the middle. The envelopes were thick cream and looked a lot more expensive than they were.

Have you thought about making them yourself and doing embossing? It is very cheap, we got all the stuff we need for 100 day and £50 evening invites for £40. We have plain cream square cut ready folded card which has teal ribbon on the side and then have embossed "wedding invitation" or "evening invitation" in silver on them. Really very easy to do and look really nice.

I got mine from vistaprint, i used one of their card designs and changed it into a wedding invite, saved it and then a couple of days later they let me order 50 for free!
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...

Thanks for your replies, ended up going to a couple more M&S's local to me and found enough boxes for nearly all the invites, and bought some different ones for the remaining guests. They're quite a disaparate set of guests so unlikely to be comparing invites! 60 invites for 45 quid, that was more sensible.
