Please Help
Please help me as I work long hours and don't have time to visit the Citizens advice bureau.
My father divorced over a year ago and temporarily lived at my house for a few months.Whilst living here he took out a loan with Alliance and Leicester now known as Santander. As he didn't have an active bank account I set up the direct debit repayments for the loan on my bank account and the loan was also paid into my account.Problem is he recently moved to spain and never paid the loan off.He has also stopped putting the money in my account.I've checked with Experian and Equifax and there is no relationship with A & L (Santander) on my credit report.I know that the loan has 2 years left however I'm contemplating on cancelling the direct debit.I've tried speaking to Santander and get absolutley no joy.I share the same name as my father apart from our middle names.I cant even understand how he managed to get credit here in the first place as he isn't down at living at my address.
Please help!

Thanks.I've phoned Santander today and they have advised me to cancel the DD and contact citizens advice. But like I said I don't have time to go there.Does anybody have any advice?0

No need to contact CAB. Just cancel the DD. When they then write to your father (presumably at your address) then return the letter back to them with 'not at this address' or 'last known address in spain' or something on the envelope.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Is it a fair assumption he took this loan out in his own name??
If so, as above, just cancel the DD and return the correspondence.0 -
LOL that was an awfully generous thing for him to do, take out a loan at your address and then peg it over to sunny Espania.
Luckily, credit ratings are not based on address so just give them the address of which sunny rock he's living under and let them chase him for their pennies."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Just to be sure, you should also submit disassociation requests to Experian, Equifax and Callcredit to make sure your details aren't confused with your father's, as you have similar names.

cancel the DD, the loan is not in your name and not your responsibility. then disown your dad.0
