The Student Support Centre

I've just received a letter through my daughter's highschool about The Student Support Centre and immediately alarm bells started ringing. Has anyone heard of this company? At the moment they are just asking for permission to send more information but I'm just wondering, as it has come through the headmaster, maybe it is worth looking into, I just don't know. And on looking at the website, surprise surprise, you can't click on their 'catalogue' pages so can't see any prices then. It strikes me like their wording is ambiguous enough to have you think it is like a free education service.
Sorry that's a bit waffley, if you've heard of them or had any experience please post.

I did hear about them, I when I did respond to their literature they then phoned me, trying to make me sign up for some things my children "needed to be successful" at school. This was last year, im pretty sure it was the same company but I might be wrong. The phone call was a sales call. I refused and thanked them for their time and asked to be taken off their list.0

Thanks MrsMondragon that's exactly what I thought they'd be like. I'm quite shocked that the headmaster would send these out through the school.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

I received a letter about them a few weeks ago, the Head made it clear that she is not affiliated with them in any way. My daughter has only just started reception! Looks like they want to sell you stuff on the basis that it helps the kids0

I live near the original student support centre in south london and still have the certficate from when I was young and they came and tested me at my house! It is really a hard sell of some DVD'S and a few books ... now that I have grown up I have a friend who actually works for them (shes is paid more than me!!) The whole course is very expensive when the total is added up for a span of a academic year. It is actually about the price of a term at a private school. My friend that works there informs me that your better or going to whsmith or CGP and getting some workbooks for your kids.... which is what I went and did for my younger brotherHanging with the *****'s dont pay da bills
And being broke at 30 give this king da chills0 -
Thanks for that. Yeah my head also said not affiliated with them, blah blah but I'm still concerned as to why they've come through school. Not for me so much, you get to be more savvy about these things after being on here for a while, just worried that people who can't afford it will get sucked in because they feel like they have to to help their children.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0
