Hermes Scarves

Hermes scarves are extremely high end. It seems almost perverse therefore to post this on a 'money saving site'. This however is a (relatively) cheap way of getting a fabulous Hermes scarf.

You can either DIY or check out MaiTai's blog.

It involves getty crafty .......

Buy from Ebay a fox fur collar (various colours work well), expect to pay about £20 - £40

Cut lengths of Hermes ribbon (if you dont have any then again, back to Ebay)

Then stitch the loops to the underside of the collar. I even had the right shade of brown thread on hand. After 45 minutes of dutiful stitching, viola - a pretty good looking facsimile of Hermes luxury.

Of course, it's not officially from Hermes, and I'm sure that it's not as nice as the real thing, but I'm pretty happy with it and will enjoy wearing it with some of my H. scarves.

Total Investment? Time - 45 minutes. Cost - £30.

I have made a few myself and they really are stunning. I have worn them to high end parties and they get lots of compliments from people who assume that they are Hermes.

For anyone that might be interested, check out this 'blog' which gives lots of tips.

Please let me know how you get on.

I don't really get it though? How does a fur collar with a bit of ribbon in it compare at all with a silk scarf, whoever makes it?

Surely a better comparison would be a market fake silk scarf for about £3 and just tell people you cut the labels out if you want to pretend you have a real Hermes?

I should say though that I don't really get 'fashion' and labels, I buy things I really really like regardless of the designer or shop they came from.

I'm confused. Hermes make silk squares worn as scarves. What you are describing is a tippet, which is very different. If what you want is a Hermes-style scarf, then a tippet is no good. Plus getting actual fur on eBay isn't cheap now!
