CCJ Advice

Hi there

Last July I was offered a personal loan by my bank HSBC for £15k. As it happened I didn't need it and let HSBC know. Yes, I know...a bad move!

Last week I met with a financial advisor in my branch and applied for a personal loan again. I was told it had been declined because I had a CCJ against me and an unpaid utility bill. Both these things were a complete surprise to me and seemed odd when I'd been accepted last year.

Anyway I checked my credit report to see that I did have a CCJ for £315 from Nov 2006. It is for a store card that I did take out in 2001 but thought I'd long since paid off. What I want to know is what I should do now. If I pay off the £315 and make sure my credit file is annotated as cleared will it genuinely make a difference to my credit rating or should I just wait until Nov 2012 when the CCJ will be wiped. Does paying the £315 start another 6 year entry on my credit report?

Also how do I go about clearing the outstanding utility bill? It doesn't show on my credit report yet the bank told me about it.

Thanks in advance.

utility bill = pay it as things will get worse, it may also be on a different cra than you looked at.
    CCJ paid looks better
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Hi

Thanks for the response. I can probably find alternate lending options until the end of 2012, but I will need a loan from the bank then. The CCJ will then be cleared but I'm what I want to know is that if I do pay it now, does it then open up the beginning of another 6 year episode.

I will definitely find out about the utility bill and pay it.

    Thanks
