Need a small loan, but need to spread the payments more than 1 month.

Wouldn't a salary advance just give me my salary early and then I'd have to pay it all back on my next salary, which would just take all of my money that month away and then I'd just be without money? Or is that just a fancy word for a small loan, aka wonga, paydayUK, and so on?
Er yes, what do you suppose a payday loan company would demand then? Difference being salary advance is very very cheap, payday loan co ....isn't! Avoid the latter at all costs.0 -
Vanquis acceptance is generally high, they look after the imperfect credit history end of the market and charge accordingly. Payday loan companies are an absolute last resort. It would be better to ask HR at your NHS Trust if you can advance £200 to pay back over the next 2 pay packets, but they may not agree to do so.
Ebay - people buy all sorts of old cr4p, so it should be possible to get something towards it? And tone down your holiday spending!! ;-)0 -

I'll check with HR this coming week. I know it's a goofy amount, but it's just come out of the blue we've had to scramble to deal with something immediately, and dipped into our holiday savings because it was there. I never thought that such a thing would be possible (the advance via my employer.)
We're going away to enjoy the cities, not necessarily go on shopping sprees!

is gutted, have always had a good credit rating, then my bank (co-op) have refused the loan for 14.5k and throughout the last few yrs have always had 30k+ income, whats going on????
Wouldve been so easy a few yrs ago( and this would have tallied up all the debt we have including extra) Grrrrrr0 -

Oh, I mean in terms of having some ridiculous amount of additional credit when I only need a small amount. I've been studying up and teaching myself about this stuff... the past couple months I have been familiarising myself with my credit score/history/report and identifying ways to improve it (though my score was surprisingly better than I had thought it would be) so I'm trying to avoid all of the big no's.0 -
How about a cash withdrawal from your credit card. Not the cheapest way to borrow but as it's a small amount and urgent may be worth it. Then economise when you get back to get your debts in order.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Now again in English, if there's any relevance to the OP's question which I doubt very much.katylou6180 wrote: »is gutted, have always had a good credit rating, then my bank (co-op) have refused the loan for 14.5k and throughout the last few yrs have always had 30k+ income, whats going on????

That would max out my credit card. Well, close.
There isn't much room on it at the moment. I really don't want to max it out after paying it down a little so far (I got it for emergencies, my first credit card through my bank as they called me randomly and offered it, as I had just had a baby so went ahead and accepted... then someone in my family died, so bought a plane ticket to the US while on maternity leave using it, which just filled it up so have been working on getting it back down again.
The past year has been a difficult time between both my family and my husband's, so we had planned this holiday to renew ourselves and start getting back on track in our lives after such a trying year. The little chunk out of what we have saved (literally just half of our hotel costs) is quite annoying as my credit card and overdraft certainly got used up for the most part after this past intense year... so we were meticulously planning the holiday without the use of credit... and had it all together, until recently. Well, so much for that. :wall:0 -
There is a decent chance HR will work out how to advance you a small amount - it is in their interests to keep their staff away from extra stressed like payday loan companies, and generally supported welll enough to be efficient and effective in their jobs. And as long as the amount is low enough that if you left work tomorrow they could reclaim it in full from your final pay packet, they may well consider it as a one-off favour. They won't accept it habitually of course, but as a favour...0
