in Cutting tax
Hi
In the last tax year my UK employer has sent me to work in various offices around the world. I've been out of the UK for a total of 36 weeks in periods of 1 week to 5 weeks. But all my salary has been paid in GBP in to my UK bank account.
As i have only been in the UK for 16 weeks does this entitle me to a tax rebate?
Thanks very much

There was a time when working abroad would produce tax advantages, but not so long ago, a regular poster on here seemed to be fond of blaming the Spice Girls for the demise of those advantages.
Whether it was the Spice Girls or not, I don't know but certainly, it was about their time when the rules were changed and, to repeat the earlier advice, I am afraid the answer is No.0 -

You qualify in the UK to claim detached duty relief. You may have tax filing obligations in other countries so should enquire into this.0

This seems to be your stock reply to these type if questions but you give little info. I have to confess that I have never heard of it and a search on the HMRC site returns little.
Can you provide a link to official guidance on this matter please?0 -
Detached duty relief appears to be connected to claiming tax relief on travel costs and accomodation expenses related to temporary places of employment.
Something that probably doesn't apply to the OP directly as I assume his employer paid these costs and he wasn't taxed on those amounts.
