I hate that in Tesco you don't get paid for the first 3 days off sick!

Hope this helpsSeems unfair to treat staff differently.
Agreed - BUT only if "newer" staff got raised to the conditions of the "older" staff - ie they also got paid for the first 3 days off sick.
What tends to happen though - if newbies gripe that oldies get better pay and/or conditions than they do is that the oldies then get their pay/conditions cut to the level the newbies have iyswim.
I've not yet heard of an instance where griping by newbies did anything other than give employers ammunition to have a go at the pay/conditions of oldies as well.
As so many employers have, in recent years, cut the pay and/or conditions of newbie staff in comparison to existing staff - then I would imagine a high proportion of the workforce (ie because they are newbie staff in their current job) are now on "newbie work conditions".
This is what employers bargain on - ie that their staff turnover will be so high that very soon a large proportion of their employees will be on newbie conditions.
Please dont give them any ammunition to say "Its not me - its them (ie jealous newbie staff) - but I'm afraid I'll have to cut the conditions of you oldies as well to shut up the jealous newbies"..
oldies DO find out who the particular jealous newbies are.............and they've then put paid to any chance of getting any help/advice/friendship from the oldies for having shown themselves up like that...0 -

Well yeah, but you assumed that 'sore eyes' was a way of skiving, didn't you? The point is that unless you're that person's doctor you aren't qualified to decide whether there's something wrong or not.0
