my oh and i are thinking about buying our first flat and i thought i would check my credit reports before we applied for any mortgages.
i checked my equifax and all my mothers debts are listed there including her mortgage and car loans. Can i get these removed? there are over 22 different credit agreements listed in my mums name and step dads?
will these affect my mortgage application? im a bit worried lenders may think these are my debts
sorry if this is not the correct place for this

If you explained the situation and that you were attempting to have the record cleared, you would not be turned down on the spot. But you would not get anywhere until you had cleared it.CupcakeLisa wrote: »if i applied for mortgage just now is it likely i would be turned down even though its obvious we are not the same person? my mother has a lot of defaults
Do you/did you live at the same address and do you share initials or first names? I am just wondering whether your mother has actually taken out credit in your name. If this is the case, you are going to have to shop her to the police to clear your record.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If it is her DOB, then you should be able to get this sorted fairly easily. I suggest you take your problem to the DebtFreeWannabe section of the forums, where there is a fair amount of expertise on clearing your record.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
