Where to get a loan

I'm in need of a loan 2900 to be exact over 2/3 years, 1000 is to pay off rent and the other is for furniture and few other things for a new house im moving into, anyway I need a loan, have been looking at loans as fun as that is, picked out few with the help of MSE :)

Anyway I was declined for one tried another decined, I know my credit rating isn't amazing, so I though I will go to my bank, the APR wasn't the lowest but still competitive, declined. I can't believe it.

Does anyone have any ideas or been in similar position themselves where to get a loan from when you have bad credit rating, though I don't want a secured loan, well even if I did i have nothing to secure it against. :P

Any suggestions welcome, though to save a few posts, I can't lend of family becuase of personal reasons and saving up isn't an option because somethings need paying for now.

Pretty sure you may struggle a bit as you will have had three searches in a very short timescale which will count against you from what I understand of how things are going at the moment.

Sadly lenders are reluctant to lend to people with a bad credit rating, for obvious reasons. You might try a credit union, although some of them expect you to save with them first. There are sub-prime lenders out there who are prepared to take a risk, but they will charge extortionate interest rates and come down on you like a ton of bricks if you default. TBH your options are limited, and although you say that you can't borrow from family for personal reasons, you may have to reconsider. What ever you do don't pay an up-front fee (no decent lender will ask for one) and don't give your bank card details to anyone, even if they say it is for 'security' reasons.

Look for people who are selling or looking to get rid of unwanted furniture, it may not be the best or exactly what you want but it will get you off the ground to start with. Buy new things as you go along. There's also the freebie place that you advertise locally, I can't remember the name of it but it's usually people offering things for free to get rid of it.

Many people get rid of a decent sofa just because they're freshening things up in their houses, nothing wrong with the one they have just want a new one, many young people will be happy to take it and get a further 2/3 years out of it. I remember when I moved in to my first owned flat, we had rented a furnished flat before that and had nothing, when we were moving in some stuff one of the neighbours came over to say he had a sofa he was getting rid of if we wanted it, we werent too proud, it was a green leather sofa not my personal taste but it was comfy as hell and made a great bed when I fell out with the g/f at the time!!
