Unfair Pay Claim

I am a male employee employed in a Finance Office, I found out that a female colleague was paid £6K more than me. We have similiar roles in terms of responsibility. I qualified as an Accountant two years ago, my colleague does not have any qualifications.

Do you feel I would have a case for an Unfair pay claim?

Have you asked why she gets paid more?

You agreed your pay, tell them you want more or are leaving. You will find out what they think you are worth.

I work in a team of about 20 people, we all have about the same responsibility but I'm pretty sure some earn more than me and some earn less. Am I the only person in the world who doesn't think this is unusual?

I used to maintain databases for some large organisations (including the salary ones)- the disparity in pay for similar roles is staggering. That said, if there are cutbacks, who will they get rid of, all else being equal?

I would guess she is better at negotiating pay deals if nothing else.

Does it not depend on length of service - the pay scale - and what kind of grading your work is marked annually?
