car towing/breakdown services?

Hi everyone, car has just broken down outside friends house, think its suspension/spring. I thought i had RAC cover but rang them and they said it expired - every other year it automatically renewed itself - they want £115 to renew my service now and come tow car to garage when membership is usually only £60!

So now i'm stuck needing to get car to my garage which is about 8 miles away can anyone recommend someone cheap to do this?

Depends on where you live as its often best to use a local recovery service.
