New Vacuum Cleaner needed

Our Dyson has just exploded. Was going to replace it in the post-Christmas sales but looks like we'll have to do it sooner.

Any decent models (at decent prices!!) available??

Thanks, in advance.

I had a similar problem last month, the motor blew, looked about to get a good price for something similar, just before I was about to fork out for a new one I thought i'd give dyson a call. Spoke to a very helpful CS guy who said it sounded like the motor and he would sent out a local Dyson engineer it would be a fixed price of £55 inc vat to put in what was needed.

Waited 2 days and the local engineer had the machine stripped down in about 30 seconds and replaced the motor(cost approx £40 from Dyson if you fit yourself) He also replaced both filters for free and did a general service on the machine.

I've had this machine for over 5 years (DC07 animal model) and has coped with 2 house extensions, dust etc told the engineer how impressed with the machine i was,I also bought a new base plate and a hardwood floor tool, these totalled £23 (always cheaper to buy from off the van engineer said).

He had a handheld computer and entered in my model number stated although it had been out of warranty for 2 years he would put it through as a warranty repair as I appeared to be a loyal customer.

Sorry its a bit long winded just thought that sometime Dyson get bad press, so in a nutshell give them a phone you never know you might not have to fork out for a new one. Mine's now working as new all for £23.

My MIL had the same problem recently.
Hers stopped working (cant remember why!) but she got in touch with Dyson, she agreed for the engineer to come and service it. She was very impressed.
She says the hoover is better than it has ever been.
