Wella Koleston Professional Hair colour advice plse

I stopped buying DIY hair colours as I was getting itchy scalp.
I go to local hairdressing wholesaler and get Wella Color plus semi perm hair colour, in 7/73 (chestnut brown) which I mix with wella emulsion. 1 colour to 2 emuslion. I like the colour and the shine and no itching. I apply to shampood hair, and after I shampoo and condition. I measure out exactly with plastic spoon. It covers grey well.

However, I wash my hair most days and this does wash out very quickly. So I want to use the wella Koleston permanant in same colour - are there any hairdressers who'd give me advice on what emuslion to use, same as with color plus? and proportions of each, I thought it might be 1/1 ?

And any other tips please.

Thanks x

Can't help you myself but maybe ask on the makeupalley forums? they're really friendly on there but you need to be patient as its a US based site, moves quite quickly and not everyone visits every day. I think they are roughly 4? hours behind so maybe wait until at least 1pm to ask anything!

I'm pretty sure that it's just the same, and it has instructions on the inside anyway lol. Ive used both the Koleston permanent and temporary and dont remember having to do anything different between them. Check on the back of the box though just to know for sure :)
  • the last lot I bought from local wholesaler (the colour plus) did not hav english instructions, all european languages. Not sure if I got it elsewhere if it would have english on. Thanks anyway.

You could try typing it into google and seeing if the translate page comes up for it?

Or see if you can get anyone from the place where you bought it explain it for you? if your too embarassed or whatever to speak to someone face to face maybe call them? Or look on Google for instructions in English?

Oh really? I get mine from Sallys? I don't know if you can get it from there instead? Or even order online?
  • thanks everyone - I've been talking to a girl on Makeup Alley whos really helpful - (thanks Jennie) just trying to work out what shade I should use, more complicated with permanant appparently.

I will try and get the next lot elsewhere, but I note that Colour Plus is £9.79 with Sallys , I paid about £7 for mine at local wholesaler, but as I said, no english instns.

Has anyone got darkish brown hair with bit of grey, and if so which Koleston colours did you use please?
  • Hope i'm not too late with this advice. Please, Please patch test your self before using a permenant or a semi hair colourant. If your head is itching you could have an allergy to hair dye. mix a little tint (a dark one 5/0 or darker) with the developer 6% and apply behind your ear or inside to of your arm and leave uncovered for 48 hours. If no reaction you are safe to continue.
Colour touch + will last about 15 shampoos but will eventually grab on mid lengths and ends so you don't need to do all of hair every time just roots. This applys to Koleston (permenant) colour as well.
1+2 for colour touch plus or colour touch and 1+1 for koleston except for the high lift tints which begin with 12. so 12/0 12/1 12/81 etc.
Try 7/3 koleston permenant or if you like more golden 7/03 if too golden next time use 1/2 7/0 + 1/2 7/03 with 6% developer in the same bowl and mix.:rotfl:
