I want a DVD camcorder

I'm fed up with having loads of 8mm camcorder tapes floating round with stuff on I haven't even had time to copy onto tape and watch!
I thought that the best thing to have is a DVD camcorder to save me the hassle. I don't want a top of the range one but would prefer a decent brand. Can anyone recommend a decently priced DVD camcorder and the best place to buy one.
PS My Mum works in Argos so I can get 10% discount in there.

Remember that DVD camcorders are not as good quality as mini dv and you cant record much on a dvd about 30 mins vs 90 mins with mini dv0

Make sure you go for one that has DV in and DV out. This enables you to upload your footage to your computer. You can then edit it and record it back onto your video camera if you so desire.Matched betting proceeds so far: £505.000

MY Sony dvd camcorder has LP so I can get more than 30 minutes on a disc. Also you could use dvd rw and use the disc again once you have copied footage on to another disc.Same old same old since 20080

OK, that's too techincal for me lol.
1. Why is the quality not so good on the DVD camcorders?
2. I have no idea how to upload footage to the computer but if I did, would I be able to then copy it from the computer onto a DVD with a dvd writer.
3. Are mini dv's much the same as my 8mm tape camcorder apart from the quality. ie do you plug it into your vcr to record onto vhs tapes?
