Will be back in Belfast for a week from 17th and thought you might be able to come up with a few inexpensive ideas to entertain the kids (12 & 9) and show OH the sights as it's his first visit to the North (he did a tour of the south many moons ago).
Already hope to get the coast road, rope bridge and causeway done but partner is a photographer and wants to 'see what's about'... he did actually ask if I could organise a bonfire or riot but he got told where to go

Took my two (11 & 9) to the Ulster Museum recently, they both loved it. In particular the Egyptian section. (free entry but difficult to park at). Bring a picnic and eat it in Botanic Gardens
There's also a great open farm in Dundonald (Streamvale). (£20 family ticket) Again bring a picnic
What about the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. They might like to see how people here used to live. The Transport part is doing a new section on the Titanic but unfortunately it doesn't open until end May. (£18.50 to each part or £21.50 if you do both in one day. Another picnic
It's not far from the Causeway to Portrush, bet you went to Barry's when you were younger - it hasn't changed. My kids love it.
There's also Belfast Zoo, not a favourite of mine, I admit. Can never understand why they put a zoo on a mountain slope. Will never forget pushing a pram while also supporting a sick hubby, not one of my better ideas!
Also for a rainy day, W5 at the Odyssey is fantastic. £23? family ticket
What about the Aquarium in Portaferry. £23 family ticket
Also on the peninsula, there is Mountstewart. Spectacular views and also the ferry across to Strangford.
I know most of these cost money. For free or less money, then what about the beaches, forests, national trust properties.
For your hubby, there are tours around Belfast of the murals which he may find interesting if he has an interest in the Troubles. You're a few months too early for bonfires. Need to come back in July, but hopefully there'll be no riots.0
