Can we get a mortgage?

Hi,

I have worked in payroll for 3 years, i changed jobs recently and have a 3 month probabtion period which im about 4 weeks off completing. My girl friend has been in her job for around 10 months and we have a joint income of about 37k per annum.

She is currently paying of a student overdraught which was £1500 about 2 years ago and due to holidays etc she still have around £600 of it left which should be paid off in the next month or two.

We were originally going to try buy a house at the end of the year but have seen one which we really like and are thinking of applying for a mortgage. The house is up for £115,000 and we could probably get it for about £108,000.

In our current situation does anyone think its likely we'll be able to get a mortgage or to just wait until our finances are more solid, her overdraught is gone and my probabtion is completely done with.

We currently have a deposit of around 15k.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Ed

    Sounds alright to me.

Some lenders might have a problem with the probationary period, but you're so close to the end of it you might find they'll take on the application knowing you won't complete before it's ended.

A letter from your employer confirming you're likely to be kept on might be requested.

Abbey will accept people in probationary and so will nationwide, Partner was week into his new job and we got accepted by Santander for a mortgage.

Seems ok but as ever no one could possibly know for sure, it will come down to a lenders credit score (forget those public scores from the likes of Experian as lenders use thier own internal systems).
