low income but no overheads

Hi, I am full time employed and have a very stable job, I don't have a lot of outgoings, my company pays for my accommodation, water and council tax. At the end of each month I get about £1000 as a salary. My wife works as a mentor at a local school and takes home about £1300 per month. We have 2 young children. About £1300 per month goes into savings. Is there someone who could give me a mortgage - who's best and why?

if you bought a house would you live in it ? if so then would you income stay at 1000?
if not what do you plan to do with it?
  • Scenario 1 - My wife would probably change to a full time social worker position which would give her a higher salary and I would move to a self-employed position with a similar type of income. we'd live in the house.
Scenario 2 - We rent the property out and remain as we currently are with same salaries and jobs.
Does one scenario seem more logical and mortgageable?
