WHSmith gift vouchers

I got a WHS gift voucher off my father-in-law last November for my Birthday.
I tried to use it the other day, the computer said NO!
They have a 12 month sell by!
I guess it was a voucher given to him which he couldn't find a use for so gave it to me. Nothing wrong with that in principal, a gift is a gift!
However - I was really miffed that it was £25 straight into WHS coffers!
I certainly will never ever purchase gift vouchers ever again from anywhere!
Read the small print!
Lesson learned!
