Your post is a bit hard to read because you don't use full stops. WHo on Earth offered you a 13 year old Corsa for £5500?

How much are you looking to spend on a bike? Do you have a licence? CBT? It seems like you are looking to buy something new. Is this really necessary?

You certainly won't get finance. The salesman doesn't know what he is talking about. You can't get finance without an income.

What sort of jobs are you being offered? Why are the employers saying you have to have your own transport? Is there no bus?

Your best bet is to borrow the money from your dad. Guarantor loans have been discussed many times here and the conclusion is that they are never a good idea.

How far are these jobs? 10 miles each way is not a difficult distance to cycle for instance.

No one will lend you money I'm afraid.

Maybe a folding bicycle and combine it with the bus?
  • i have a motorcycle license and most jobs that have offered me require transport ie pizza delivery or even working in a shop in the town center plus my dad has to much going out anyway at the moment i have an income from the job center and i can easily make the payments

no they mean money you earn, not money you get given
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

There is absolutely no way a shop in the town centre states that you must have your own transport.

I don't think the money the Job Centre give you is meant for finance payments. If you spend it on this how do you pay for food and suchlike?

or even working in a shop in the town center

Are there no buses to the town center?
Sorry don't mean to sound harsh, but in this weather you could cycle for the first month until you have some money under your belt.

Why can't your Dad be guarantor just because he lives elsewhere?
Have you asked the salesman about whether you dad can be guarantor?
Bear in mind you will need some gear for your bike - helmet as a minimum.

I really do appreciate that you need some way to get to work but I think you could look at other options.
Have you registered on a lift share database?
Do you have any friends/family/relatives who could help you out with a life some of the time.
If you bought a fold up bike then it would increase your options for sharing lifts as you could get a lift part way and cycle part way so you don't need to get a full match for your journey.

Sorry I know it's tough, but short term you might have to make some sacrifices like getting on your bike.

Was the £5.5k for the 1998 Corsa the Insurance price or the cost of the car lol :)

I think OP means insurance which is why he is looking for a moped.

£675 on Fleabay, it could be blinged up in no time.

We sold a 125cc runner for £200 and we are not the only ones. You can find very cheap bikes if you look. If you are looking at pizza delivery you want cheap to run, cheap to insure and ratty cos it is less likely to be stolen, you also want something you can fix yourself so really getting a loan for a bike is a bit of a waste of time.
    Try:
    gumtree
local shops that have notice boards, there are 3 bikes going for under £500 in my area right now on the co-op boards
    fleabay
bike forums..google search but there are 100%, britchop, etc they will be able to help
    local bike groups
    local papers
check local bike repair/ breakers as they often know of cheap bikes going in their area

My advice, save up your giro and buy something old and ratty but working to get yourself a job and then save up for something better.
