Query re food stored in re-used glass jars

Hi
I store nuts, seeds and home-made muesli in glass jars. Although I have purchased a couple of these, mainly I wash and re-use old 100g and 200g coffee jars.
Normally these have been fine but recently I washed a few of the jars which had been in use (nuts, seeds etc) for a while. Afterwards the jars smelt very musty. I tried bicarb of soda but this didn’t work
I would appreciate some help. Should I be washing the jars more often, say once a week? Or can someone suggest a method of taking away the musty smell?

Hi,
I also use glass jars (usually jam or pickle jars) for keeping dry food and never had any problems. Have you tried to wash the jars in the dishwasher? Usually I do, especially the first time and check very well if the inside of the capsule is clean (normally the smell comes from there).0 -
Thanks for your reply, nikibella, but we don't have a dishwasher, unless you count either my partner or I.
