mortgage employment insurance cover

We are first time buyers.Just wanted to know what employment insurance cover hubbie would need to take out, just sickness or sickness and unemployment.

Had some quotes, just sickness is about £8 per month, sickness and unemployment £16 per month. Is it worth taking unemployment cover as hubbies in a stable job, and is there so much smallprint that its not worth paying the extra.

Thanks in advance.

What does he do for a living? How long has he done it? What does he realistically feel are the prospects for unemployment? Would you be happy to rely on the state provisions for Income Support for Mortgage Interest?

How long would he be paid by his employer in event of accident or illness?

That sounds like budget PPI. If so, a complete waste of money. You are getting what you are paying for (or not as the case is).

If you are looking at sickness only then there are far better options than PPI.
