loan for 1k or 2k
Hi,
I have read quite a few threads on this subject but I have not yet found an answer to my problem.
My husband and I have stupidly taken loans out with Wonga, each time we repay it we have to get another and it is never ending and we desperatley want to be free of them. We borrowed some money from a family member to help us out but they now understandbly want it back, they have agreed to £100 per month but because of Wonga and arrears we have on our gas and electricity, are constantly finding it impossible to manage.
My husband works full time and I used to work for a well known high street bank, I was employed by them for 22 years, but I suffered bad depression and anxiety, originally due to bullying at work. The problem was sort of dealt with and I returned to work.
I found it very difficult to adjust and fit in again and after about 9 months I was signed of with long term depression and anxiety. I had a meeting with my manager and personnel and it was agreed that i was unlikly to go back, so My job ended on the grounds of capability.
It was over that time that we got into financial difficulties and we now have poor credit history.
I have done everything since to repair my credit history but a number of problems have arisen, hence the wonga loan.
I know that if I could borrow about 1 to 2k over a period of 1 to 2 years, we could clear the arrears on our gas and electricity, pay the family member back and totally get rid of Wonga, we would get back on track.
The problem is finding a loan company that will help us without charging extortionate intrest fees and charges.
Please, can anyone advise us how we would be able to do this.
Before all our problems I ALWAYS had a brilliant credit history.
Thank you,
Bernadette.

If you are not working and don't have an income then you won't get a loan. Whether your husband will get a loan will depend on his income, the level of debts, his other financial commitments and his credit history, and if you are financially linked then your credit history will also be relevant.
Its not clear from your post whether the loan from your family has paid off the wonga loan or whether you now owe your family and wonga money.
If you have been using wonga I expects its because you cannot get mainstream loans. Instead of looking for a loan it might be worth heading over to the debt free wannabe section of the forum and post up a statement of affairs. The posters on there maybe able to help you see ways to improve your finances, increase your income or decrease your outgoings and suggest that best was to tackle your debts.
Have you been in contact with you utility suppliers? have you arranged a repayment plan with them to pay off your arrears? usually they will agree to a plan to repay over 6-9months and that would have no interest charged compared to the high levels of interest you would be likely to incur anywhere else.
Have you checked you are getting any benefits you are entitled to?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
It would be nice to think that the bank for which you worked for 22 years might give you a sympathetic hearing (some hope I suppose!) but have you thought of speaking to them?
Otherwise, is there a possibilty of getting back into the job market, perhaps part-time with something less stressful?0
