Confused about amount we could get

We have a largish deposit about 125k (ignore costs they have been catered for). Currently in rented as we sold in october
I've been trying to work out what houses we can look at but can't work out how much of a mortgage we can get. Dh is on 34k (potential for bonuses) plus of course we get tax credits etc. Children also have a trust fund of 12k a year that pays a lot of their costs so we don't have to. (trying to give as much info as poss as dripfeeding is annoying)
Before we moved Santander, who we were with offered us 160K when dh was on 32k.
Since then I've been on numerous calculators and they all seem to say different things. I have no idea what figure we're even roughly looking at.
Any advice?

Turn the question around. What can you reasonably afford as a monthly outgoing? Interest rates aren't going to stay this low forever. So potentially dangerous to overstretch.0

We could afford more than they say we can on the calculators as we currently pay more in rent (and extortionate amounts in heating this crate of a house)
If I put in amount we can afford each month and calculate it that way around the figures come out much higher than if I put in dhs wage.
I think we must live more frugally than they expect or something.
But saying what we can afford doesn't impact on what they will lwnd will it as the calculators don't seem to really take it into account?0
