Cheap entertainment?

Hi looking for ideas and inspiration for evening reception entertainment, particularly in the Aberdeen area?
We have a mix of english and scots coming to our wedding, and would love a ceilidh to start off the reception, then entertainment to keep the guests on the dancefloor all night. Making sure the evening is a fab party is really important to us, but the bands we've looked at are charging between £800-£1400 for the nights entertainment! Way out of our price range!
Whats everyone doing for entertainment? Our budget is £500 max!

perhaps you need to look at solo artists or duos as they tend to be cheaper than paying for a larger band. They can still provide a great sound and for a fraction of the cost. Failing that try any local colleges or unis and see if any students have a band and ask if you can listen to a sample of their work.0
