Starting Up Business

Hi Everyone

I like many others out there am looking to start up my own little business and I would like sell not big branded but high quality beauty and skin care products. The first hurdle I have come across is finding a wholesaler that doesn't sell the known brands that you would find in Boots etc.

I did come across various sites to start up my own range but don't want to consider that at the moment.

Does anyone know of any wholesale where I can bulk buy (not in vast quantities) items which would also be able to be combined as sets?

I have everything else in place but this is the hardest bit!

If you have tried to find and source decent wholesalers, you will know how difficult it is. That is why you will be unlikely to find anyone willing to divulge their sources, particularly as you may well end up being in competition with them.

This seems a bit a!!e about face, surely you would find your products before you got everything else in place. How can you set up a business with nothing to sell?

Maybe look for other small businesses who make hand made products. I used to sell very nice soaps, bought from a small family business in Suffolk.

Maybe try sites like esources, and there's similar wholesale directories around. You have to pay for those sites though I believe, and not many are that good anyway.

The most vital bit in any business is the stock and I am not sure how you have all the rest in place if you don't have stock since everything depends on it. Without stock you have no business plan as you have no costings, withotu costings you can't have an end price or a profit margin so you don't even know if you have a viable business.

I am also not sure what you mean when you say you don't want to buy vast quantities, surely if you want to compete with people buying a bit of stock for their own use, or for a market stall you would have to beat them in quantity to get a better price?
