Squeeze the juice of a lemon ( it can be one that is past its best) into your kettle. Chuck in the lemon halves too. Bring kettle to the boil then leave for a while for descaling to start. Each time you go into the kitchen, bring it to the boil again until you have done it about 5 times then pour it down the sink & remove the lemon halves. Rinse & boil a couple of times with fresh water to get rid of any residue. I always used to use vinegar but find the smell of boiling lemon much nicer. It really makes the kitchen smell clean & fresh. I'd use vinegar if I hadn't got any spare lemons though.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I always descale my kettle by covering the element in white vinegar and leaving it for about 20 mins, no need to boil. Comes up lovely clean and shiney all scale gone, boiling it makes the kitchen stink and brings in fruit flies!!Slightly bitter0
