Tescos sale website error

I am fuming. I have been online at Tescos this morning after looking around for a trampoline for my daughters birthday. We found a TP 10ft trampoline with safety enclosure for £186 down from £230. Great stuff I thought and popped the Trampoline into the checkout basket. We also have club card vouchers which we put in and then realised that there was an 'Easter Clubcard Voucher Exchange" which doubled our £20 voucher to £40. Even better.

So, I redeemed the vouchers and was told by email it would be an hour until I get the new vouchers. I had to go to a meeting so I thought I would carry on when I got back. Five hours later I open the basket to add the codes and the sale price has now gone and the trampoline was back to the original £230.

I call the customer services and the girl on the phone tells me she has been told there was another incident with someone else and that it was a website error!! I had the same response from her manager.

Surely this sort of 'website error' shouldn't be happening nowadays? If they have a price reduction shouldn't they say now how long it will last?

Are the grapes that I am holding turning extremely sour?

My conspiracy theory is that a lot of people were making the most of the two deals and they took it off line in the middle of the day.

Is it worth taking it further? I am just fuming that they fobbed me off with "it's a website error" and it was never on sale, yet I have just done a search for "TP trampoline 10ft with enclosure" clicked the shopping button in google and there it is at the price of £186 at the top... aaargh!!

My spleen has been and truly vented!!

I think I would be inclined to write a letter and explaining how let down you felt by the company and there pricing system. Keep it polite and nice but let them know you were quite distressed as this would have been a present for a child.

I suspect that they wont do anything about the trampoline but you may get a nice gift card in the post and hopefully a letter of apology which is always nice to receive.

There's no arguing with the big 4 sadly but it doesn't mean you can't try!

    Good luck x

That is annoying but probably not anything you can do about it really? Although maybe a letter of dissapointment may help.

Can i suggest this trampoline to you, alot cheaper...

I know its closing the stable door and all that but I usually print off orders made online (I know in your case you hadnt finished the order), I wouldn't imagine there is anything you can do in this case.

Tesco seem to give £30 if you have a legitimate problem with a web order as I did - worth an email of complaint!
