Getting a Sky discount.. How did you do it?

So I have noticed alot of people claiming to have received discounts from Sky before their contract is up by pretending to quit.

Problem is what do you say when they tell you they will charge you for the remainder of your contract?

I am having trouble with the bills lately since my brother moved out and that they have not taken my last payment from my account yet (even though they claim they have).

Anyways, how did you get a discount?

It much harder to get a discount when you are in contract because they don't have an incentive to try and keep you (your already commited to 12 months), unlike if you were out of contract.

What if you tell them you cannot afford Sky no more? If you cant afford monthly how can they charge you the remaining amount on the contract?

You could reduce your subscription to the bare minimum, around £19.50/month, although they need 30 days notice.
If you don't pay, they will turn off the subscription channels, and will probably trash your credit record.

I just got a bill through the door saying my bill should be £42 pm. My last bill for this month was £64 but the man said two months of internet is on the bill. I accepted this.

Now next months bill is apparently £52 an extra ten pounds coming from nowhere. The fellow on the phone said invoice charge.

So there now I downgraded my account only to find I am not saving any money at all. Downgraded to just one package. Still paying £52...

We left Sky because of that reason, massively confusing bills. I don't mind paying for a service (and generally they are quite good, we only ever had problems with installations really) but I object to bills that would fluctuate wildly for no reason and which you'd need a degree in goobledegook to decipher!

What exactly are you paying for?

    Could it be say

    Variety Pack £19.50
    HD Pack £10.25
    Broadband £12.50

Do you have your telephone with Sky?

Why not log on to your account on line and check it out?

    Sorry for the late response.

    I am paying for atm:

Entertainment, Lifestyle, Music,Docs and Kids (£23)
Internet (Unlimited) and Phone Line (£18.50)
    Extra Subscription (£5)
    which equals to £46.50
    and I am paying £52.

I received a letter saying I should only be paying £42 pm.

I have downgraded to the basic tv subscription and I was told I am still paying £52

The only additional item would be any calls not covered by the calling plan.

The only thing would be to ring them and sort it out, at least the call would be free.
