Unwanted cd's. Anywhere that recycles them?

Hi, i have quite a few unwanted cd's. These are not sellable as they have copied games and music etc on them, or are old data back-ups.
I could just give them a good scratching with something rough and chuck them in the bin, but was wondering if there is anywhere that recycles them, melts them down to make other things etc
Anyone got any ideas?
TIA

Our local recycling centre (council) accepts them if you take them along, there's a bin there with the other stuff, plastic bottles, cans, paper etc. Might be worth checking your local one?
If you have an allotment or some keen gardeners nearby they might take them off your hands - they can be used as bird scarers.0 -
I agree with the allotment idea. I think a few of the holders would be happy to take some off your hands. There will be some older people who may not have ready access to old CDs so you would be doing them a favour. Just even leave them at the gate in a box with a note, and someone will take them in and they will be appreciated.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

See if you know any 'creative' people who might use them. I've got a load of discs, and I'm going to use them either in a sensory garden or in stacks with LEDs in the middle for a sensory light. Eventually....I have no signature.0

If you happen to live anywhere near Swindon/south Gloucestershire I'll take them off your hands for our allotment
I want some to scare the birds away but we don't have any old rubbish ones. 0 -
Angeltreats, why don't you ask on Freecycle? I'm sure you would get loads very easily.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

as this has dropped down the board and is a recycling enquiry, i've popped it over to the green and ethical board to see if anyone has ideas over there
