Do I still need to sign on?

Hello
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated! It's kind of a long story so here goes . . .
I was offered a new job so handed in my notice to my current employer. I then found out I was pregnant (I'm now 13 weeks) so I decided to turn the job offer down and my current employer agreed that I could stay working here until the end of my contract (which is 10th June, they had already started looking to fill my position which is why I can't work past the end of my contract). I have decided that I don't want to look for another job for the months in between June and my baby being born in November. Mainly because I don't think anyone will want to employ someone who will be leaving soon after starting and not returning as I will be a stay at home mum once the baby is born. But what do I need to do? I assume I can't claim job seekers allowance if I'm not actually looking for work but am I entitled to anything? Do I still need to sign on so the govenment knows I still exist, so to speak?
It will be much easier once the baby is here but before that I'm just not sure what I'm entitled to or what I need to do.
Many thanks in advance!
Regards
Keeley

Hi there, first of all Congratulations.....
From your story even if you'r not looking for work you are entitled to JSA, which means of course you have to sign on and only look for a part-time, they wont put you into a full time job cause you will become heavier as time goes by...
If i'm not mistaken by your 7th month of pregnancy you are entitled to income support which will be done automatically by the job centre and you do not need to sign in as you are not looking for work...
Hope this information helps you.

Wrong - the OP cannot claim JSA if she is not seeking work. It is likely that the OP will qualify for Maternity Allowance at the relevant time.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Yeah you do have to be looking for work to get JSA. You could get ESA, but only if you had a sick note from your GP to say you are not fit for work.0
