Wedding in Edinburgh Castle - St Margarets Castle

Hi everyone,

I am interested in getting married in St Margaret's Chapel in Edinburgh Castle.

I have visited the castle a couple of times and during the tour the guides said it's a great venue for a small wedding (with room for only about 25 guests!), so I'm hoping this will also mean a less expensive wedding! We are thinking about having the wedding ceremony in St Margaret's Chapel, and the reception in a restaurant somewhere in the city.

If anyone has got married there or been to a wedding there and has any opinions or tips I'd really appreciate it! I'm struggling to find information online about how much it costs to marry in the chapel (though someone had said 7years ago it only cost £100!).

Thank you, Joanne. :)

  • Hi!!

What a lovely idea to get married at the castle! Do you live in Edinburgh? Or are you trying to do this from somewhere else?

Have you tried calling/emailing them to discuss it further?
They have got an open day on Sunday May 22nd (11am-4pm) try and go along and then you'll get all your questions answered!

Do you know which restaurant you're thinking of booking?

    Good luck planning!!

We were originally going to get married there but are getting married in Fife now. I just emailed whatever address was on their website and got some emails returned quite quickly.

    Hi Adeline!

We got engaged at the castle so we thought it would be nice to get married there too! No I live in Belfast in Northern Ireland, but flights to Edinburgh are quite cheap! And my fiance's aunt owns a B&B in Edinburgh so she has offered to provide accomodation as a wedding gift!

Yeah I have emailed the castle asking for details on weddings at the castle and I'm just waiting to receive their information pack! I didn't know about the open day, but I have just looked it up so that might be a good idea to go and get information!

We heard that the Point Hotel in Edinburgh is good for receptions, or there are places within the castle that you can have your reception (though this is quite expensive!)

Thank you very much for your reply :)

    Joanne.
