They informed me by post. A payment timetable was sent to me on the 31st March 2011, declaring what I will be receiving and on what dates. then I received another payment timetable of the same kind but with my final payment reduced from £1529.66 to £428.66 (-£1101), which was sent to me on the 22nd April 2011.
surly payments cannot be confirmed and then changed a week before they are due??0 -
What did they say when you rang them to query the change?Gone ... or have I?0

have you called them and spoken to them? We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.0

yes I called them and was told that because i'm in my final year they cannot support me immediately after I finish my degree (throughout the summer holidays). so surly because they knew my course was 3 years they shouldn't have promised me the funding, and therefore it is their mistake? I have written a letter of complaint but have no reply as of yet.
If they reply with no support then how am I to fund the gap from leaving university to finding a job? any advise?0 -
I was under the impression that a student loan was to help you whilst a student. As at the end of your course, you won't be a student, you cannot rely on the student loan.
Without sounding sarcastic, best thing to do is find a job as soon as you leave university. Failing that, you will have to rely on Jobseeker allowance until you do find yourself a job. We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.0 -

The student loan is for when you are a student. After that, get any job you can to live from or move back to your parents if you have to.0 -

It's clearly frustrating and and upsetting to be told at very short notice that the amount is to be reduced, but the fact of the matter is they have no legal obligation to honour a statement of payments which were sent with erroneous information on it I'm afraid, especially as they've sent you the correct information now, before making a payment to you.
Am I right in thinking your University course ends in June? I'd suggest that £400+ is a fair amount for 2 months.0
