so i'm trying to be debt free but i have a problem. i've lost my passport! i need this to open a new account as i'm using payplan. now i will have to fork out £66 for a renewal!
can i open an account without one? i have no other form of photo ID.... £66 is too much. i've lost the passport at home so in the bin or behind something!
though today i got a letter from HSBC saying my statements are on the way and will arrive in seperate batches shortly! and i sent my stuff off to my creditors!
huff....

Do you not have a drivers licence or another bank card for another account? These are usually acceptable as ID for opening new accounts and household bills with your name and address as a secondary form."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

no drivers licence yet! the bank specifically required a passport, a utility bill which i have an income sheet from new employer which i will get and a bank statement from the last month from old bank which i also have. but no passport or photo ID!!! i have nothing!0 -
If you have lost your passport you should report it immediately.0

i have the forms in hand...one thing they say is make sure the form is filled out correctly before sending it otherwise a new passport will not be issued!
guess what? one of the questions is 'passport number' haha, i've lost it!
i am not sending it off just yet though, it's a case of looking round the house again! and again! £66 is too much... i looked through the rubbish last night. not pleasent!0 -
A few years ago I opened an account using non-photo ID and having a countersignatory on photoID they wouldn't normally accept (student ID card). They may have tightened the rules up since then, but maybe you could ask if there's a way round it?
You know when I applied for my passport I only did it to get myself some photo ID- I've never been abroad with it!"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

I opened a NatWest Step account on-line, no passport or ID required. They sent the form to me to sign and I posted it back; account open 1 week later.
There was a question about the account replacing an existing account with another bank - perhaps that's why it was easier to open?
Worth a go...Proud to be dealing with my debts:dance:

No, they'll accept copies of passports being sent in. They mean original bills etc. Nobody expects you to send your actual passport in!0 -
