Supermarket Rip Offs

Morning all. I'm sick and tired of being ripped off by the supermarkets, aren't you? Somewhere on this site I remember seeing a thread about products being 'slimmed' down to look the same. Does anyone remember this? Well, I would like to add some slimmed down products: ASDA bacon 3 packs for £10. Last shop they were double packs and 7 slices per pack. This weeks shop they are single packs of 12 slices!! Wheres the other 2 slices gone? RIP OFF again! (I remember not very long ago smart price bacon packs were about 68p now, they are about £120 for, smart price bacon, it's a joke!) Smart price mince has gone from 500gr to 412gr down to 400gr for the same/similar price. Another rip off! Smart price butter last week was 98p, this week it's £1.10. A 12p increase in a week!! And no doubt the list goes on. Considering the MASSIVE and, I mean massive profits the 'big 4' are making every year don't you think it's about time we started complaining? Contact the supermarket in question about these rip off's and, keep bombarding them with complaints. I've had enough of this, what about you? Can we keep this thread going with 'RIP OFF' slimmed down packs? Another pet hate of mine is the air miles that food has to (?) travel. I added up the miles for a simple salad last year and it came to OVER 5000 miles. Ridiculous when the majority of the produce can be produced in this country almost all of the year under cover. This country with the help of supermarkets has gone doolally!! End of rant, for now
Always looking for a bargain :j

I wish you would all stop complaining about fruit and veg and meat being slimmed down or the price going up. Working in the agricultural industry we are already pushed and pushed to make everything as cheap as possible for you the consumer. Would you rather lose a rash or bacon, and get it at teh same price and the farmer stay in business and the piggy have a nice life or bad animal management and a farm going bust. It may only seem like a single rash of bacon to you, but add that up over all the pork produced and it can help a farm a whole lot more than it would you. The supermarkets are evil, they wont pay the farmer more for the meat to help you the shopper, so you the shopper pay more to help teh farmer - simples!!I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart.

put in a few paragraphs so its easier to read
prices go up and down, theres also the costs of the suppliers asda have to consider so if they have put they're costs up then asda does as well,
re the price of butter yes pice went up but price also goes up on other stuff as well(expensive price for bacon at £120)
you have a choice of buying said foods from asda and arent forced into it, you can use laternative sources0 -

Alas, supermarkets exist to make profit. The only way not to get ripped off is not to shop there? Perhaps you could get your own back by being one of those freegan fellas?!0 -

With a price increase for cheap bacon going up from 68p to £120 it is time to shop elsewhere anyway......0 -

calm down OP, look outside at the sunshine, think how lucky you are to have friends and family, you have a choice where and what you buy.

I shopped last week and was gobsmacked that 4 (YES 4) slices of pre packed corned beef was nearly £2 in Morrisons, When did pre packed meat become more expensive than gold!!
I will buy tinned next time or go to Iceland where 8 slices were £2 ie 50% saving.
We have started using local shops ie green grocers, home bargains, butcher before going to the supermarkets where we are incentivised to bulk buy BOGOF's and inevitably end up throwing food away
This happens all the time in supermarkets where they premiumise items to max out their profits on lines that are not KVI's ( known value items)
Let me know of any other savings to beat this latest supermarket con0
