I want to become an Electrician - but how do I start?

I know what put me off the training course to become an electrician was the cost which was something like £7,000 at the time, don't know the cost now but i can imagine it being the same if not more.0

the problem is you dont really get many places that will fund training for people aged 25+, (government rules) meaning you would have to pay the cost of the course, which could vary from a couple of thousand to over ten thousand.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

If you strugle with maths, there are a lot of course's that are easy to get on. Personaly if it helps gets you started on a career you want to do I would do whatever it took.
I'm also sure that learn direct run math courses0 -

My son has just completed his second year training to be an electrician - and it is not easy. Fortunately he did not have to pay for the course. He has had load of exams, the final practical exam is next week and will be 6 hours. You need to be physically capable as well as mentally able; there is a lot of complex Maths used (algebra and trigonometry for example). The hardest part is coming up though, as he now needs to find an apprenticeship for his third and final year.0

Maths was one of my stonger subjects at school, so not to worried about the maths, although physics was by far my stongest subject so god know why i went into accountancy lol
Finding an apprenticeshipis the bit that worries me the most :(but where there's a will there's a way0 -
volunter! Thats my best advice and ask everyone you know if they know someone. 99% of our Apprentices are employed by some one they know or their parents know.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0
