You can't - you'll need to use talktalk's SMTP server. Very few ISPs will allow you to use their SMTP server if you're connected from another ISP (to stop spammers using the servers).
Surely there's no particular reason why you would specifically need to use UTV's SMTP server though?0 -
Thanks for your response, no reason just didn't want to have to change my email address.0

You can still send and recieve emails from your UTV account by going to utvinternet.com and logging into webmail.0

Try using your utvinternet email settings for the Incoming (POP) email server and the following for outgoing (smtp)
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.talktalk.net
(if asked)
Log on using SPA: leave unchecked
Authentication: none
Outgoing mail port: 25
Use SSL: leave unchecked - Account name (Username): username@talktalk.net
- Password: password
Have a look at this link for info http://www.talktalkmembers.com/content/view/78/68/0 - Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.talktalk.net

Thanks Johnny, will give that a go.0

It's all very well telling people to use Gmail or Hotmail, but I've had my UTV email account for more years than I care to remember and I have no desite to change it. I've used O2 and Vifgin at different times to relay my UTV email successfully so you should be able to do this ok.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Why does it not surprise me that UTV Internet doesn't pull the plug on accounts when subscribers leave? :-)
Anyhow, good point bigcammy, but you could of course also pick up your UTV email from Gmail, and start to gradually wean yourself off your ISPs email address. Horses for courses I suppose.0
