in Cutting tax
I have noticed that this site always shows my tax as about £10 less than it is on my payslips. I don't have the bog standard tax code due to taxable benefits at work, and I suspect this has somethnig to do with it because when I've used it for my husband's salaries over the years it has always been bang on. Does anyone know if it is this site which is incorrect or my pay? I earn 20500, am on 700L tax code, pay student loan and put £50 pension in every month. My payslip shows £224.80 tax deducted while the LTT site says it should be £214.85.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I just enetered the details and it said £224.85.
Did you enter the code of 700L?0 -
Yes I entered the tax code 700L. If I don't put anything in the pension box it shows £224.85 tax but when I put in that I pay £600 a year pension it reduces the tax to £214.85. That can't be right can it?0

The listen to taxman site is assuming that pension is being deducted using the system that most company pensions use. That is the pension contribution is deducted from your gross pay before tax is calculated. Private pensions and some company pensions work differently, the pension is paid and the tax relief is claimed by the pension provider and added to your pension contributions.
You need to know which system is being used before you can get an accurate check on the tax deduction.0
