Prom

Teenage niece (whom I'm close to) will be going to school prom. Should I give her a gift and if so have you any ideas:p

Hmm not sure. Don't think it is the "done" thing but I'm sure she would appreciate it if you offered to pay for or contribute towards hair/nails,accessories etc.

mr_knight has a great idea there. I am sure she'd love it if you would offer her a manicure or maybe help get her makeup done

    What a lovely thoughtful idea.

Our daughter has her year 11 prom soon and it has proved to very costly with the right dress, hair, nails, shoes, jewllery, makeup and then there is the transport too so I am sure she would really appreciate a helping hand to make her evening perfect.

Yeah I think the same... great ideas =)
  • Thank you all. I agree their is already so much expense that it probably better to help out in a small way towards the event, rather than providing a seperate gift.

Manicure etc sounds a lovely idea to me. How thoughtful of you to want to buy her a gift.

A friend of mine took some before, during and after photos for her daughter, including various dresses/shoes she had tried on and hair styles etc, and then on the big day, getting ready with her friends having make up and hair done and getting into limo etc. Once all the pictures were taken she made a scrapbook album for her, one I am sure she will treasure forever. Hope this helps
