Abbey Loan 5.8 % fobbed off
Options
Hi phoned up abbey about thier 5.8 % loan ,went through all the gubbings what they ask and they told me they could give me the loan at 6.3%
I asked about the 5.8 % rate and was told to apply online which I did ,Got the paperwork through a couple of days the rate has increased to 14.9 %.
I have a very good credit rating no debt small mortgage with 4 years left.
I phoned them up and was told it was all about the credit rating and they did not want to expand on this,
when I said I was offered the 6.3 they said they had no record of the call hhhmmmmm.
Well I ll just have to borrow from my building society.
BTW I have banked with abbey for nearly 18 years

Check your credit record. It sounds silly but if you applied for a loan with Abbey by phone and then online, the online application might have been affected by the credit search from the phone application.
Also take into account that if you apply for another loan with your building society you already have 2 credit searches on your record. You could try it now but be prepared to wait 6 months if you are turned down or offered a rubbish rate now.

Hi Mrke,
I see you have posted this on several threads. Can you expand? What's the source of your information, and the assumption that Cahoot is going to be "closed down"?
Thanks
HFMEverything turns out all right in the end. If it's not all right, it's not the end.

Cahoot have withdrawn from offering loans. It was in the news. I think the rest is conjecture. Although haven't Abbey just scrapped the Woolwhich as a separate entity? If so then its a fair assumption that Cahoot are going too.

I have a Cahoot credit card and heard a few months back (on here) that they have stopped issuing loans and cards but I have not heard anything from Cahoot themselves desite asking them outright only to be told that customers would be informed in due course of any changes.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -

Woolwich is nothing to do with Abbey. Its part of Barclays. All the Woolwich branches are changing to Barclays and the name Woolwich will live on for Barclays mortgages.0 -
Yep, wasn't 100% sure on that one which is why I phrased it as a question.
It does show that other big banking groups will dump brands.
