black marks on jeans after washing?

Hey ya'll!

I keep getting this problem....I can wash all clothes no probs but every now and then jeans come out with black marks on them...down the legs like creased smudges almost?!!

I don't understand why I'm getting this on jeans and nothing else...they can go in with other clothes, by themselves, doesn't seem to matter if they are dark or light jeans!

Once they have these marks on them they don't seem to come back off!

Does anyone else have this problem, any ideas what could be doing this? Oh yeah...I should probably add that I always forget to put them inside out before washing so don't know if that makes any difference?

Thanks x

I bought a pair of cropped jeans last year and they did this - the only pair its happened too, all my other jeans are fine. Do you think it could be brand thing (although I can't for the life of me remember what brand mine were).

Like you though its has never come out, but doesn't seem to show up too much when I wear them so I haven't been that bothered by it

Thanks for the reply bloomerang...I've had it happen to Next jeans and OH's (cheapy) jeans too (can't rememeber what make), it's fine for ages then KAPOW! another one gone! It's not even like the washing machine seal is black....it's light grey?!! hmmmm, this could be a puzzler!

Is there any crap in or around the seal? Get a light coloured cloth and wipe all over it ~ you'd be suprised what gunk and sludge can live there!

I'd turn the jeans inside out in future just incase :)

I have found that not using fabric conditioner helps with this. In the past it was like it gooped up in the washer and absorbed dark colour dyes, then showed up on light materials. Now we run a regular 'maintenance wash' with bio powder and soda crystals (less than a pound at the grocery shop, very OS) on the hottest temp that we can. Sometimes a bit of bleach too if the machine is mildewy. Good luck!
