really old debts being chased?? Advice Please

Hi There,
I have had a couple of really old debts being chased up- one from 10 years ago relating to some car finance. I have definately not heard a thing for at least 7 years and another from Coldseal windows.
The coldseal one is a bit weird, its again around 8 years old+ but there was an issue with them over not completing the work correctly and they left it unfinished for around 6 monthd. As they had an advert saying if you can find better customer service than ours we will give you your windows for free I used this and they agreed, now out of the blue I get debt letters. I know a little about the limitations act but wanted some reassurance as its a worry!
Look forward to some advice.:o

I'm sure you'll get more advice from people more in the know but from my little knowledge I believe they are past the term where they can still chase the debt.0

If you haven't had any contact in the last 6 years, they can't chase you.
Do you have any documentation about the free windows deal?0 -
I did have documentation about the windows but sadly threw it out years ago as when they went bust thought that was the end of it.0

Was the advert from Coldseal in a local paper? Contact the paper and ask them about the advert and get a copy of it. Or try the local library as they keep back issues of local papers usually.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Are you being chased by a Debt Collection Agency or the original creditors?
Reason for asking is that there are 2 slightly different letters, but, providing you have not acknowledged these debts, in writing, or made any payment in the last 6 years, they should come under the statute barred legislation and are no longer collectable.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

nothing about the free windows deal as I threw it out years ago when the company went bust.
No real way of finding anything about it as it is quite literally 7 or 8 years old.0 -
Which is exactly the reason there is legislation to prevent the chasing of really old (alleged) debts.jamesroberts wrote:No real way of finding anything about it as it is quite literally 7 or 8 years old.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -
