Telewest broadband

Hi.
My problem is:
Telewest installed a 30 pounds a month phone package. During that initial period till now there has been an increase in broad band cost from 14.99 to 25 pounds. So I changed services.
Telewest's fault.
When the installed my telephone line then illegally used the BT phone socket instead of installing their new one. When I moved to BT I found that my BT phone line would not work. So I called telewest and asked them to come and do the job they were supposed to do initially by installing an telewest socket and to connect the BT line back to the BT socket. (I hope I'm making sense.)
Telewest replies.
Telewest comes on 8th November and sets up BTs socket again. But they refuse to install a telewest socket.
Their excuse being:
1. Its too late you should have told us about the problem initially two years ago.
2. We don't install a Telewest socket unless we are installing a Telewest line. (Yeahh but that was supposed to be the case in the first place.)
Telewest has faild to fulfil its obligation of initially installing a telewest socket and the least it could do now it to install one now.
Telewest has cost me a days off work to wait for them to fix the problem.

So I complined that I will take court action if they don't do the job they were supposed to do the first time round.
1. The have replied with a letter that they did do "remedial" work (new word just means Supplying a remedy). Which I'm still unhappy with.
2. They said the they would not be responsible for financial loss and this is supposed to be in their terms and conditions.

My Questions to moneysavingexpert
1. Do I have a case to take them to court.
2. I have sent them a letter before legal action as I mentioned and those were the replies they gave.
3. Is there a law which or and act similar to unfair terms act that I can use to take them to court?

My requests from Telewest are for:
1. Compensation of for time wasted on day of installation.
2. Installation of a telewest socket as initially supposed to.
3. What law have telewest broken by using BT equipment, is there a law there that I can refer to in my claim.
Cheers
Sorush

Telewest are known for this. Did you ask BT to instal a new line when you went back to them? When I did this (went from telewest back to BT) BT just came out and put in a new line for nothing and told me telewest are always trashing BT's systems but if BT engineers do the same they get lots of grief.

As to your problem. As you are no longer with telewest I don't think you have any right to a telewest line / phone point. When you were with them they did supply a usable phone line which you did use.

As for a loss of a days pay, this happens all the time from a huge number of service providers. I doubt you will get anywhere.
