Hi,
My daughter who is a student and had a part time job in 2010 wants to claim back some tax from that emplyment, but is not sure what form she needs to send to the HMRC.
I wonder if anyone could be good enough to give me the number or code of that form so that we can print it out from the net,
many thanks

There is a form P50 available on HMRC website for those who have stopped working. Alternatively she could just write a letter quoting her tax reference and enclosing proof of why she should get a refund.0 -
You can either send in a letter and copy of your P60/P45 to your local tax office and they will calculate any refund due or simply go into your local tax office and they should be able to start the process for you.0

A R38 authorizes the payment to be sent to someone else.
A P50 is used for an in year refund of tax, - not applicable because she is claiming back tax for a previous year.
As your daughter is claiming back tax for the last tax year, there is no specific form to use to claim back tax, however at this stage of the year she would need to send in one of the forms received from the employer as below
She should have received either a P45 (if the employment ceased before April 5th) or a P60 (if she was still on the employers books on April 5th)
Send whichever form is relevant in with a covering letter confirming that she received no other income during the tax year and a calculation will be done and refund cheque sent in the name of your daughter to her home address.
HMRC will automatically do the calculation once they have received the End Of Year reports from the employers, but this will be later in the year.
Going into the local tax office is not the best option as HMRC may not have received the information yet, (employers have until the middle of May to send in EOY returns) so you will simply be told to wait. He's not an accountant - he's a charlatan0
