Cheap Tyres

Hi there,
my car has just been serviced (ouch) and theysay I need a new tyre. Now normally I would have gone to the tyre place and just bought whichever one they said I needed, usually this costs around £80. BUT being a new trying-ever-so-hard money saver I thought I would check here first if anyone had any good advice on this.

I have used tyre4u.com to compare the costs of different tyre makes and qualities.
You can then either a) order the tyre from tyre4u.com, wait for it to be delivered, and take it to a local independent tyre dealer to fit and balance (around £5 cash where I live),
or b) use the knowledge about the price of the tyre to then ask your local tyre dealer to match it.
I used option a), but if you really are an elven princess you might prefer option b) - (you won't have to load the tyre into your car, and take it down to the depot.)!
A good site for explaining tyre jargon is The Wheel and Tyre Bible
Another website for online tyre prices is http://www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html
There is a Michelin Tyre Selector here - you enter the make, model and year of your car, and the suggested tyre size for your vehicle is shown.
There are also some previous threads on buying tyres - you could try the chat search.People are more important than things0 -

Thanks for the tips, I went to these sites and did a bit more surfing and came up with this site:
https://www.blackcircles.com
You can order your tyre and pay online then go to your nearest black circle affilieated garage to have it fitted. You can check for your nearest garage by putting your postcode in on their site. Their prices were great, for example:
on https://www.blackcircles.com a premium Pirelli cost £52.40 mail order price (not fitted)
on https://www.tyre4u.com same tyre was £68.50 again mail order
Best bit is if I recommend 3 new customers they get 5% discount and I get £15 cheque! Anyone interested send me your email and I will send you the link to get 5% off.
I know someone who has used this service before and they were very happy. I hope this helps.0 -
I get kevlar sidewall V rateed P6000 from them very cheap. Road and race tyres from them they advertise in Motor Cycle News. Based in Essex, shipping is around £10. Been around for years.Seth.0
