Amazon are clearing the Monitor Audio i-deck for £79.99, previously £200.

I bought one of these from Amazon and it arrived today, very impressed with the sound and quality. It comes in a massive box though, was really shocked at first thinking it was going to be massive, but taken out its about the size of a mini hifi with speakers. It does come with half a dozen adapters, using mine with a video ipod and it works great.

On a side note, the monitor is sitting in my lounge and I have a Bose one in my bedroom with a photo ipod in it. At this point I'm more impressed with the Monitor one, it really is a steal at this price.

Q...can it be used with non-ipod mp3 players..i.e. by a mini jack plug/lead/ conector.....or is it purely for Ipods via the dedicated (sizewise)docking connector.

i.e. I have a v. good non-ipod mp3 player etc and am seeking quality speaker systemfor it ..will it work??

It comes with a mini jack lead presumably for just that purpose. Not sure how it would look though as if you look at photos of it the middle section is where the ipod docks (in a special clip on face plate) and the lead would have to run to the back of the dock next to the power lead which is where the mini jack port is.

I bought one of these for my son when they were £99.99 and it is a quality piece of kit...It has fantastic reviews on amazon and it is worthy of them all...Im not 100% sure if you can use other mp3 players with it but i think you can...I remember reading something about that in the manual but please confirm this before spending your money!!

I had a look, but not sure why one would buy these...
If you have a stereo, presumably with a tuner and a CD player also, you can buy a dock from apple for £25 which allows you to connect to the AUX input, et voila - same thing, but with more functions.

i did buy one of these for my wife a few months ago, and swiftly sold it on ebay.
it is OK but you will get a better sound if you can connect to a decent hifi system via a jack cable,depending on your system of course.
a good thing about it is that the remote can work from a different room or upstairs,im not saying this system is rubbish all i am saying if you know your hifi then you will know this is not as good as it is hyped upto be.monitor audio are a well respected company in the audio world.

also it does work with nanos

Did you hear back from Monitor yet? I bought the i-deck and a 2nd Gen Nano for Christmas but the Nano doesn't fit the Nano Bezel provided.

I bought one because I don't have a full blown stereo in my bedroom; this is absolutely perfect, sounds fantastic, looks fantastic and also doubles as a superb set of active speakers for my Samsung TV that match perfectly with its glossy black finish.

Absolute bargain.
